Blog Tour and Book Review – Disrupted

Being a writer means that you have to be on a constant hustle to find work if you want to make money. It’s exhausting and lonely but there are huge benefits.

I’ve gotten a small following on this blog, which I’ve recently rebranded as the Frugal Freelancer. Between a new name and a different layout, my regular subscribers are in for a treat. I’d love to hear your feedback and see what you think of the changes.

As for my other website, Sarandipity’s, I’ve been less than consistent with publishing content. I’ve not just faultered at adding blog posts but I’ve also slacked on adding new content to the store.

And if I’m not crazy enough, I’ve also been growing my Medium channel, my email list, and I’m debating a new website! There are a ton of niches out there that are prime targets for high traffic. Be sure you check out my recent Medium post on upcoming events for crafters, business owners, and writers.

Quick Tip for Writers

If you’re a writer struggling to find something to write about, I always recommend participating in challenges. I tried to do the blog post a day challenge in January. It was a bust. I don’t believe in making posts unless I have something of value.

By February, I started doing flash fiction challenges, partipciating in book tours and blog blitz hops, doing book reviews, and accepting guest bloggers to hep promote other writers.

For the month of April, I’ve taken an interest in poetry prompt writing. Poetry can be a great way to get you into the mindset to get your thoughts from your mind to your screen (or paper if you’re old school).

Check out Writer’s Digest University and join the 2024 April PAD (Poem a day) Challenge. I’d love to see your progress. Drop your favorite poem in the comments for a chance to win something free from my shop.

The San Ramos High students are busy rehearsing their performance of Our Town when the school and the surrounding towns are rocked by a 7.1 earthquake. My Review of Disturbed

Disturbed is a Young Adult novel that tells the tale of a teenage main character that struggles to return to a life of normalcy after a series of earthquakes changes her life for good.

Through the trauma of losing her brother and the destruction of the high school — and teenage innocence — the main character rises above it all to help her help others.

I appreciated the strength of the teenager as she tried to get over her grief by focusing on what she could do for others.

From the dialogue to a teenager’s inner thoughts, this book captured all the turmoil experienced by young adults during the most difficult part of their life.

This story makes a great read for young adults and grown folk alike. It could be a great story to encourage open discussions and the sharing of thoughts between two very different age groups.

Overall, I give the story 4 stars.
